My Chiropractic Story

While playing collegiate soccer, I was injured during a routine game. I had severe pain in my left hip radiating into my groin. The Team Doctor prescribed me pain medication and muscle relaxers, but my pain was not going away. I began to get frustrated as I continued to sit on the bench at practice and games due to my injury. Thankfully, one of my teammates recommended a local chiropractor that he had been seeing. Within a short amount of time my hip and groin pain no longer existed. After about two months of corrective chiropractic care, I no longer had to use my asthma inhaler while playing soccer. The most fascinating change in my health happened when a bacteria that had been plaguing my right eye over the previous two plus years was alleviated. To this day I always remember my ophthalmologist saying, “Jeremy, I just can’t understand why you have these bacteria only in your right eye and not in your left eye.” I was so thankful to finally throw away my daily eye drop solution in the garbage after over two years. I thought to myself if chiropractic could do all this for me then what can it do for everyone else?

The following summer I moved to Georgia and enrolled at Life University to complete my degree as a Doctorate of Chiropractic. I met my amazing wife, Dr. Amanda while we were both working second jobs to help pay for school and expenses. We are blessed to have our family touch your family and friends with the message of Above-Down-Inside-Out principled chiropractic care.

My Chiropractic Story

After being injured from atop the cheerleading pyramid during an Autumn afternoon, I went home with low back pain thinking everything would be okay. Hours later when my mother returned home from work, I was unable to walk. I crawled to her in pain asking for help!

We managed to get myself into the car and went to Urgent Care. The medical doctor said, “Amanda, you sprained your back. Here’s a shot to help you feel better as well as some muscle relaxers, pain medication, and an anti-inflammatory.” Days later I was able to walk, but I was still in severe pain. I was not cheerleading nor attending my dance classes for an upcoming competition. Thankfully, my ballet instructor at the time was married to a chiropractor, and my mother scheduled me for an appointment.

Specific chiropractic postural x-rays were taken and immediately after my first specific scientific chiropractic adjustment, I felt improvement. In order for my injury to totally heal, it did require time and repetition. Being that I was only 15 years old, I bounced back quickly and was able to compete in the next dance competition. Immediately after beginning specific chiropractic care, I stopped taking the medications the medical doctor prescribed…

After completing a degree in biology from the University of South Carolina and interning for four years as part of a research team for bone marrow transplants at the Center for Cancer Treatments in Columbia, South Carolina, I knew that my mission in life was to not be part of the sick care industry plaguing the United States healthcare system. I moved to Atlanta, enrolled at Life University, and completed my Doctorate of Chiropractic degree. I am blessed everyday to be a part of a profession that provides increased life and function to the body from Above-Down-Inside-Out.

My Chiropractic Story

I am a third generation chiropractor, so I have seen and heard my share of amazing chiropractic stories. It all started with my grandpa coming down with viral Hepatitis while in high school. His mother took him to see medical doctors, who basically told her to take him home and get his affairs in order and wait for him to die. She decided to get another opinion, and took my grandpa to a chiropractor. Now, chiropractic does not treat conditions like hepatitis, but instead chiropractic allows the body to heal and function the way that it was designed to. After my grandpa received chiropractic adjustments, his body was able to ward off the hepatitis, and vowed to become a chiropractor himself. My father followed in his footsteps, and became a chiropractor as well. I have grown up well adjusted my entire life, so chiropractic adjustments are all that I have ever known as healthcare; I’ve never been to a pediatrician or primary care physician, nor have I ever received any vaccinations, or taken any prescription drugs. I have never been hospitalized or ever had a major illness. I simply do not get sick. My life and wellbeing is a testament to chiropractic care and how raising healthy well adjusted children allow them to become healthy adults. My wife, on the other hand, had not always been under chiropractic care. For many years she had suffered from severe irritable bowel syndrome. Once she got under regular chiropractic care, through time and repetition, her IBS slowly began to go away. Once her spine started to have the proper structure, her body began to have the proper function. Chiropractic, like gravity, always works.

My Chiropractic Story

When I was a child  I was involved in sports year round so I had a lot of slips, trips and falls during practices and games. I was younger, and the coaches had a “no pain no gain” mentality whenever there was any major or minor trauma. I think these sports injuries added up into my elementary years where I developed bad eye sight and headaches everyday when I came home from school. I would take some medications to help with my headache and that was just part of my life for most of my 4th grade. Eventually the symptoms of the headaches went away but I began to develop some digestive issues that were side effects of the medications I took daily. I dealt with that until middle school, where a hit to the head during a football game brought on some whiplash but the headaches came back too. The headaches became more intense, more frequent and my vision got worse too. I was prescribed glasses by my doctors as they said it was just bad eye-sight straining my vision and causing my headaches so they just recommended that I use glasses and contacts and if my issues continued they would have to take imaging of my head and brain. At the time, my older sister was in the military and had a lot of physical wear and tear that comes with the army. She went to see a chiropractor and I just happened to be with her that day. As she brought me into the office, I learned about the importance of the spine and the nerves – just as much as any 7th grader would care to learn or know but I did not start care because I thought the headaches would go away on there own – just like before! The contacts and glasses helped lessen the frequency of headaches from 7 times a week to about 3-4 times a week because I was not squinting as much. I thought living with a headache that frequent was just normal and it was something I would have to learn to manage as part of my daily routine for the rest of my life. When I was in College, A local chiropractor came in and spoke to my anatomy class about the nervous system, and how the nerves from our neck supply our head. He said misalignments in the neck can cause pressure on the nerves causing symptoms of headaches and bad vision. I shadowed this chiropractor in office and started care with him and through specific chiropractic adjustments, my headaches completely went away! I can say I’ve had less headaches in 5 entire years than I would have in a typical week when I was younger. I wish I had started care earlier in my life to take care of the problem instead of doing what most people do which is wait around until the problem worsens. I have seen what Chiropractic did for me and I’m excited to share its healing abilities with others!
